Something Landlords Should
Know
Every
once in a while I learn something new that can save my customers
time or money, and this time it's all about money.
One of my friends passed
on to me something I never heard of before, and since it worked
great for me, I'm pretty sure it will work for you.
As Florida landlords,
many of you are stuck with Citizens insurance on your rental properties,
so I would like you to get your policy out and look on top to see
if it is a DP1 or a DP2. If it is a DP2 you are getting ripped off,
most of the cost of this policy is for contents that you do not
need anyway, since you are renting that property out. Remember this
is not for your primary residence. I saved half of my premium on
each of my rentals. However, you must do this before the policy
is due. You cannot switch in the middle of your policy year. It
must be done about 1 month before.
The funny thing is I
asked my agent what the difference was, and they really could not
explain it, instead they sent me some documentation I had to peruse
over which was nothing more than mumbo jumbo insurance talk.
Well, I found out the
difference - they charge you twice as much for a DP1 policy.
If you have any questions
shoot me an email or call me, and I will be more than happy to relate
my experience in this matter.
